Who We Are

Woven Gaze is an artistic intervention initiative uniting landowners, artists and eco-activists in their efforts to stop pipelines from harming our shared ecology and indigenous culture. Conceived and birthed by the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League (BREDL), the overarching purpose is to strengthen collaborative efforts to protect the sacred earth as well as promote individual well-being and resilience of communities through the creative process.

Why We Do What We Do

Why We Do What We Do

The design of Woven Gaze’s arts-based intervention is multi-layered, providing a rich texture and systemic value to this collaborative and creative work of eco-activism. Effectively stopping the pipeline, in the hearts and minds of participants, is the founding impetus and optimal outcome. More systemically, the project is crafted to have a growing fertility which will accrue and be amplified, one whose value is distinct and germinates from; the positive affective and social impact on human development, enhancement of well-being in time of crisis, and provocation of innovative and emergent cultural methodologies to promote community resilience and global ecological health. Join us as we seek to celebrate and develop indigenous, inter-woven, and sacred “studios” across the bonding spaces of our natural world.
